Viewing Your Current Plan
To see your active plan and usage:
- Log in to DottSign
- Go to Settings → Billing (or click your avatar → Billing)
- You'll see:
- Your current plan name and billing cycle (monthly or annual)
- Renewal date and next invoice amount
- Usage stats, contracts sent, team members, and storage used this period

Upgrading Your Plan
To upgrade to a higher plan:
- Go to Settings → Billing
- Click Upgrade plan
- Select the new plan and billing cycle (monthly or annual)
- Enter your payment details (or confirm the card on file)
- Click Confirm upgrade
The upgrade takes effect immediately. You'll be charged a prorated amount for the remainder of your current billing period, then the full new plan price on your next renewal date.
Downgrading Your Plan
To downgrade to a lower plan:
- Go to Settings → Billing
- Click Change plan
- Select the lower plan
- Confirm the downgrade
The downgrade takes effect at the end of your current billing period, you keep access to your current plan's features until then.
Important: If your current usage exceeds the limits of the new plan (e.g., you have 8 team members but the lower plan only allows 3), you'll need to reduce usage before the downgrade takes effect, or some members may lose access.
Switching Between Monthly and Annual Billing
Annual billing saves you approximately 20% compared to monthly.
To switch:
- Settings → Billing → Change billing cycle
- Select Annual
- Confirm, you'll be charged for the full year immediately, and the difference from your remaining monthly period will be credited
Updating Payment Details
- Settings → Billing → Payment method
- Click Update card
- Enter your new card details
- Click Save
DottSign uses Stripe for payment processing. Your full card number is never stored on DottSign servers.
Viewing Invoices
All past invoices are available under Settings → Billing → Invoice history.
Click any invoice to download the PDF. Invoices include your organisation name, address, VAT/tax ID (if configured), and itemised charges.
To add your company name and tax ID to future invoices:
- Settings → Billing → Billing details
What Happens If a Payment Fails?
If your card is declined on renewal:
- DottSign sends you an email notification
- Stripe automatically retries the charge 3 times over 7 days
- If all retries fail, your account is downgraded to the Free plan
- Your data and contracts are preserved, you won't lose anything
- To restore full access, update your payment method and reactivate the plan
