Know who is signing. Not just who clicked.

Signers show a government ID, take a live selfie and pass a face match before their signature counts. The ID itself never lands in our database.

One switch, per contract.

Turn it on before you send. Every signer except you gets the check with their signing link, and nobody signs until they pass.

  • Made for the contracts where identity matters most: leases, powers of attorney, settlements.
  • The one-time code still runs. This is a stronger check on top of it.
  • Signers need their ID and a phone camera. No account, no app.
  • Stuck in review? Skip that signer. The skip is written on the certificate.
Works for WhatsApp signers too

Signer identity verification

Require every non-owner signer to verify their identity with a government ID before their signature is accepted.

This can only be changed before the contract is sent.

Verify yourself

Check your own ID once. Your profile carries the badge, and contracts you send are tied to a verified person.

See Starter

Require it from signers

Switch it on per contract. Each signer verifies before signing, at no cost to them.

Start with Pro

Make it a workflow step

Add an identity step to a workflow. Verified signers move on; a failed check or a missed deadline takes the other branch.

The workflow step is on Business and Enterprise. Signers never pay for their own check.

We keep the verdict. Never the document.

The result is printed next to each signature on the signed PDF and on its public verification page. Anyone holding the file can see who proved their identity, with which document, and when.

Kept with the contract

  • The result
  • Document type
  • Date of the check
  • Session reference

Never stored by DottSign

  • ID photos
  • Document number

  • Selfie and face data

Verified on a paid DottSign plan? Your check carries over to later contracts, so you are not asked twice.

Verify a signed document

Before you switch it on.

What does a signer need?

A valid government ID and a camera, usually their phone. They photograph the ID and take a live selfie, and the check compares the two. No DottSign account and no app are needed.

Who runs the check?

Didit, our identity verification provider, runs it in a hosted session. DottSign receives the decision and records it with the contract.

What does DottSign store?

The result, the document type, the dates and a session reference. We do not store the ID images, the document number, the date of birth or the selfie.

Does it replace the one-time code?

No. Every signer still confirms a one-time code by email or WhatsApp. Identity verification is an extra check on top of it.

What if a signer is stuck in review?

As the owner, you can skip the check for that signer. The skip is recorded on the certificate. Inside a workflow, a deadline (72 hours by default) sends the contract down the failed branch instead.

Does a signer verify again on every contract?

Not if they are on a paid DottSign plan: their check is reused. Other signers verify per contract, but a check passed in the last 7 days is reused.

Which plans include it?

Verifying yourself is on every paid plan, from Starter. Requiring it from signers starts at Pro. The workflow step is on Business and Enterprise.

Every signature, a real person behind it.

Start Pro and switch on identity checks for your next contract.
